date with dad...

Owen took the kids and two of our friends girls to Disney's "Brave". They said it was scary but good. The kids love going to the movies. The only thing with where we live is that the theater only plays one movie every week so it's not always "kid friendly" movies, so when it is, we take atvantage of it! (: 

"sleep puppy, yay down"...

Bruiser hasn't been doing the greatest lately... His hip is going out. Ty takes good care of him though. She sneaks him her food and this morning she shared her blankets with him and snuggled him. I was in the other room when I heard her say, "puppy stay... yay down!" I came in and found this... Isn't that just cute?!?

She sure loves her puppies! (:

It's been almost two years since these pictures were taken and almost two years since Duke has been gone. I honestly didn't think I could love an animal that much. I miss him even today!

The reason for the pictures and the reminisce about this totally amazing dog is this...

Monday night the kids all wanted to sleep on the trampoline. I was fine with it but I had to have the bedroom window open so I could hear the kids all night long. Well, BO and Kodi chickened out about half an hour after lights went out. Rylee however wanted to stay, scared or not. She cried for about 5 minutes while I tried to convince her that she needed to sleep inside. She wouldn't have it. She bunched up in all her blankets and fell asleep. I was missing Duke at this point, because he always slept with the kids on the tramp and they never got scared and he wouldn't leave their side until the morning when they woke up to go inside.

I woke up at 1am to check on Rylee to make sure she was okay and Chopper was asleep right next to her just like the above picture. Chopper like Duke didn't leave Rylee's side until she came inside that morning. Bruiser on the other hand was inside his dog bed sleeping inside.

I truly believe Duke helped us find Chopper so we would be okay with his passing. Chopper is the exact same breed Duke was too. What an awesome mix they are!

YUCK, ouch or just plain shudder....

This thing tried to KILL me! I'm totally exaggerating, but it did "run" after me. Thankfully I was washing my patio and the water washed it away and than I caught it! (: It's still very much alive in this picture. I fed it to my chickens so they can get the taste for scorpions. I think they liked it... They fought over it anyway! Watch out scorpions... The chickens are roaming the yard now! lol

So when I first put it into the cup, it had a bunch of white things on it's back, but then when I looked in a few seconds later, they were all gone. I'm really hoping that they weren't babies... DOUBLE YUCK!

Chickens....

Here are our chickens we got from the Easter bunny.... They are getting so big. The kids play with them all the time too. 

Kodi started the whole chicken on the shoulder bit this morning and BO and Rylee had to fallow suit.

ALL day yesterday this is what I did. Owen built it and I painted it. It seriously took me all day. I didn't get done until 7:30pm and that was working on it non stop.

girls camp certification for fires...

I taught my young women's group how to start first with and without matches.

Here is my example of how to surround the fire pit. (The foil is there so when I showed some examples of the fire, it didn't leave marks on the cement.)

In the two tin buckets, is where I started the real fires.

It was fun teaching the girls and having all of them and the other leaders thinking I was totally awesome. (: I like to pretend every once in a while.

yard now....

And now there is grass! (:

 We left town the day after we planted the grass for Trevor and Keeley's wedding and some of the grass didn't get watered because the sprinklers were off how they were suppose to spray... I wasn't very happy and now we're hoping it all comes back to life. Fingers crossed!

Owen tore out all of our rose bushes in the front and built a planter box against the house and moved the rose bushes up. We put grass in place of all the dirt, you can kind of see the transition...

We also added a fence to our front yard. Owen says it makes our house look like a prison. I like it though. (:

Some cement work that we did the day before. A nice little pad to hide the uncontrollable weeds.

And here we added more retaining wall and a step off of our walk way.

windy days...

Here in the Summer, it is really windy. On one of the really windy days, I had to go to Young Women's (a group of girls from our church). Owen was working so the lucky kids got to go with me. Ty found the swing as soon as I got her our of the car. she climbed on and let the wind swing her. She had her legs out and arms out like she was really flying! She is so darn cute! (:

 After the wedding, we went the the luncheon and then headed swimming to give the kids a little break before the reception.
